Cell phone Etiquette

couple-texting

Our attention is highly drifted to our cell phones. That is why we need cell phone etiquette!

It is quite rude to keep watching on your cell phone especially when you are in the company of others. If you need to answer your phone in a dinner, apologize to your company mentioning that you have to take the call and if there is nothing urgent tell your caller you’ll call them back after dinner, or go aside and finish your call quickly. If you get a text message, quickly glance at it, and if it is not urgent, reply later.

When driving it is a safety priority & responsibility to not use the phone, and if you do so, please use a hands-free set or the speakerphone function. If someone calls you, and there is someone in your car whilst using the speakerphone, let the caller know that in case something private needs to be discussed.

Most importantly: Do not fall into an sms conversation whilst being with someone else! That is impolite!

If you’re at a gathering, do not take your cell phone out to occupy yourself with it just because you are bored. If no one is talking to you, make an effort to talk to someone.

Keep your calls brief and if you are going to have a lengthy chat, then let your chats be in a private place, like home, or if you are alone in a coffee shop etc, especially where there are less people around.

Seating etiquette

As a GUEST: always let the host direct you to your seat.

As a HOST have a seating arrangement in mind.

At a restaurant, let the guest of honour sit at the table’s best seat; otherwise let him have the honour to choose his seating according to his comfort. The host should always be next to the guest.

Seating should be made appropriate so that everyone enjoys a comfortable & communicative dinner!!!
